Show Notes

When Social Worker Karen Rosenberg and a business partner hosted yoga retreats in Isla Mujeres, Mexico they befriended a young man in his mid 30's who died unexpectedly from undiagnosed diabetes. She decided to take action when another local woman ended up in a diabetic coma and founded the Isla Diabetes Clinic.

Karen and co-director Giovanni have hosted free clinics that drew 500 people to get tested, receive nutritional counseling and supplies. Mexico has a diabetes epidemic, estimates are that about 60 percent of the population has undiagnosed diabetes. She shares how her amazing clinic has grown and had a positive impact over the past 13 years.
