2) After 40 years of working,  he retired. He struggled in the first phase of his retirement, and then he found his stride in the second phase. He has written a book based on his research and interviews with people who have been through the same thing. He finds that most information on retirement is focused on the financial side.

5) About 50% to 60% of retirees break through to phase four. They reinvent themselves, they rewire, and they find a thing or things that make them want to get up in the morning. Research shows that with a sense of purpose we are more likely to stay healthier and to live longer.

6) People are surprised when they get to Phase Two of their life and they find it difficult to move out of it. The key is a sense of purpose. People need to remember the things that they love to do and have done well over the years. People have to be open to change and not afraid to fail.
