Taking Command with Captain Tom: How Saying "Not This!" Led to Work I Loved

Dawn Fleming Season 5 Episode 136

At age 35, his co-worker and other people thought he was nuts to walk away from a "great job" as a lineman for a Seattle area power company.  It was a good union job with a good income, great benefits and tremendous job security. What's not to like? But after a divorce, Tom took stock of his career and life.  He wasn't sure what he wanted to do but knew only "Not This!"  With an uncertain future he returned to Southern California to live with his parents until he could figure it out.  His decision back then led to work he could have never imagined possible. Listen to his inspirational story and learn:

1. The question he asked the "man in the mirror".
2. Why settling for what is safe and secure may limit your potential.
3. How opportunities come along when you have the courage to change.
4.  The importance of a mentor and what it can mean to your future
